Year in review: Percepto’s 2021 is one for the books (they said it, not us!)

A year-end review at Percepto typically looks internally at parameters such as customer satisfaction, company growth, product roadmap and more.

And this year one thing really stood out. The external recognition. While we at Percepto take a hard look at what we could have done better, we were humbled this year to have been recognized by others for our innovation, technology and operational excellence.

What’s in this blog:

Award-winning inspection-automation technology for our clients

  • TIME Best Inventions
  • CB Insights list of most innovative AI startups
  • Gold winner of the 2021 Edison Awards
  • Drone-in-a-box Company of the Year
  • Getting recognized and given the opportunity to shape the drone market  – beyond the technology
  • Award-winning inspection-automation technology for our clients

TIME Best Inventions

Closing out 2021, Percepto AIM was recognized by TIME as one of this year’s best 100 inventions. What a tremendous achievement; we couldn’t be more excited to see the solution we envisioned only a few years earlier (exactly one year ago) recognized in one of the most prestigious lists as a solution that has a potential to change the world, no less!

This was a huge validation of the value Percepto AIM brings to heavy industry, and the world at large. When it comes to heavy industry – like refineries, power plants, telecommunications – we believe that nothing should be left to chance. That’s why Percepto AIM uses the most cutting edge AI to detect the smallest of faults early on – like leaks, corrosion or overheating – so they don’t become major disasters – like oil spills that cause significant environment damage, fires that risk population and employees, or outages that have an enormous impact on the surrounding economy.

CB Insights list of most innovative AI startups

Also on the AI front, CB Insights named us to its list of the 100 Most Innovative Artificial Intelligence Startups for remote inspection. Over 6,000 companies were considered for the list. And they chose to put Percepto on the list of the most promising private artificial intelligence companies in the world. We always knew our engineering team is one of the best out there, and that our vision of AI takes us far. Yet once again seeing our achievement in this area feels great! Seeing the advanced AI solution for remote inspection we developed on this list confirms our solution stands out in that it empowers our clients to manage their facilities from anywhere in the world.

Gold winner of the 2021 Edison Awards

While we couldn’t have been more happy with the above mentioned recognitions, another great organization recognized Percepto AIM. We were named a gold winner of the 2021 Edison Awards in the visual insights and conversion tools category. Our robots and drones are viewed as some of the most innovative new products in the world. Yet as cool as our autonomous robots are, at the end of the day what moves the needle for the organizations we service is having the right insights at the right time. This is what enables them to keep their facilities up and running, reduce downtime, and protect their employees.

Drone-in-a-box Company of the Year

Frost & Sullivan recognized us as the drone-in-a-box (DIB) Company of the Year. They recognized our various achievements, including the highest number of DIB deployments, most mature product line, the most extensive customer base in the market, and our inclusion in the ‘gold standard’ FAA’s Type Certification approval process. Frost & Sullivan said of us, “By reducing human error and increasing safety, Percepto’s advanced technology enables their clients to drive efficiency, reduce costs and safeguard staff.”

Their recognition of this and innovation – always adding new capabilities – reminds us of who we are. Sure, we’ve grown tremendously. Yet, at heart and in our DNA, we are still a start-up determined to innovate and respond to our customer’s needs. And we believe that this approach of working closely with our clients to develop the features and technology that they need is what has driven us to succeed.

Getting recognized and given the opportunity to shape the drone market  – beyond the technology

In addition to the pride we feel for the awards cited above, we are also proud of the recognition we received from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The FAA selected us to participate in the market-leading new BVLOS Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) whose work will entail developing a regulatory path for standard drone operations Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS). They also included us among the first group of the ‘Gold standard’ FAA’s Type Certification (TC) process.

These regulatory milestones are a strong indication for the drone industry that the future of autonomous drones isn’t as far down the road as some may say. We work so closely with the FAA and regulators around the world to push forward the regulatory needle to achieve our vision of autonomous drones remotely inspecting and monitoring industrial sites.

Improving and growing our offerings, working towards Percepto’s mission

Our mission is simple: to revolutionize the way industrial sites are inspected and monitored, creating a brighter and greener future. We work towards this mission by continuously innovating and delivering the best technology available.

As you can see, we’re very excited about what we managed to achieve so far. And we’re even more excited about where we are headed with our extended family of drones and AIM 2022 that will completely change how our customers run inspections and monitor their sites.
